I can't even begin to express how validating this is for me. Every summer I worry about not having enough "plans" and start filling up my calendar to the point of becoming burnt out or become stressed when I feel like I don't have "enough" fun activities. I've actually been starting to feel this way as we near summer and have become increasingly worried about how to fill my weekends.
This changed my perspective on summer. I savoured every word of this post and look forward to my Boring Girl Summer filled with simple pleasures. What an absolute gem of a post! Lauren, your writing gives me chills.
It's this type of comment that makes it all worth it for me. Thank you Naomi, I truly appreciate your words and I'm so grateful for your support. May we find magic and fulfillment in our unplanned summers. 🌞
Love love love this!! I will also be having a boring girl summer with my books, my husband, my neighbor’s pool and lots of orange wine. No Italy or big trips for us, happy to just spend it in our own backyard. Cheers to us!
Literal chills with this one. Life has a way of surprising you and offering opportunity when you open up your calendar to let it in. I'll be down here in Virginia eating salted tomatoes in a sundress, drinking in the median wildflowers when I'm stuck in traffic and drinking wine on the porch as the sun goes down. Cheers to Boring Girl Summer!
Summer 2025 is my boring girl summer and I’m extremely glad! All I want to do is indulge in the little pleasures and delights of life. I don’t want to be burnt out from nonstop plans that don’t even leave me a moment of rest. I’m so glad I don’t get FOMO bc I like being boring!!
I love this!! We'll be spending the summer settling into our first home, finishing the must needed renovations. No trips in sights, probably for the next few years. Feels weird as I love traveling, but I chooses to spend my money on building a home in a place I love. This post was very validating. Thank you. 💞
I now have boring Mom summers - my kids calendars intentionally DONT get filled , and I still get these exact moments. I’m blessed to have homebodies that slowed me down. I love how you write about being greatful to have these insights during the season of life you are in… great piece thank you for sharing and inspiring ! ✨
This week i’ve been up to absolutely nothing and today i went out into a local forest solo, and just sat in a tree with a cereal and the nature and thought about my boredom and loneliness. (seems to be a theme recently that i’ve been having a hard time accepting.) I love this piece and your wisdom so much!
It's my first summer in this new area, and I thought it would be a fun-filled season with a great internship, travelling around, and encountering beautiful places, people, and moments. However, I've been stuck in the four walls of my room for most of it, and I hate it. But as you said, "I know it's a time of my life that won't last forever." While I'm looking forward to having the kind of summer I dream of, I'll learn to enjoy this serene, boring, and peaceful moment.
I lived in a touristic city when I was a teenager. I loved the summers. I didn't need much more. Now I have a daughter and I don’t have much time (or money) to travel around. Enjoy your boring girl summer, i am envious.

This is iconic. I want this plastered across my walls to remind me everyday how I want to be living this summer.
Ahhh what a good idea. Thanks so much lovely, xx
