Mammoth yes! re: rhubarb. I also feel like it's about to have a *huge* moment in all its forms -- keep seeing it pop up in cocktails and perfuming. Feeling like it could be a soft, cosy winter hue, too!

Obsessed with the idea of passionfruit on toast! Genius! Also, would be so interested to read how you use herbs in their different iterations in everyday eating and imbibing? From the calendula and blue cornflower to the previously-mentioned smoothie use of ashwaganda, this is very intriguing! xx

Thank you Aoife! Passionfruit (I like to feel fancy and call it lilikoi) is such a fun flavour! The calendula and cornflower petals were more for dramatic garnish effect. They are both edible flowers that were harvested and dried locally. Most people use them for tea blends, but they can really brighten a plate when sparingly sprinkled on top. 🌼

Yum! I need to know which bakery you order your bread from in Victoria. These combinations all sound so yummy, especially the fig. I like figs but never know what to do with them.

one of the best things i’ve eaten this summer was sourdough bread topped with ricotta, orange slices, honey, sprouts & edible flowers 😮‍💨😮‍💨 can’t wait to try to recreate it at home

Love this! I've been shopping primarily at our farmers markets this summer + it brings me so much joy seeing what I can toss together for mealtime. I also just got an apple banana confiture that I've been DEVOURING with a thick spread of butter on toast. Delish!

Last time I was in Victoria, I went to Wind Cries Mary for dinner—and was bowled over by their ricotta toast. You’re inspiring me to recreate that appetizer with some extra farmers market goodness…I love this, Lauren!

What a delight! Such clever and creative names too :) I've been trying to eat seasonally as well. Have you ever considered being part of a CSA? I did it last summer and I am part of one again this year. I've had a great experience with A Rocha Farms CSA here on the mainland - I wonder if there are options on the island? Its helped me eat more seasonally and I've tried so many veggies I never would have tried before!
