I don't even care for tennis and I ate this piece up (unintentional flashback to the cake gallery haha!). Totally love this series. The display case! The artist in residence! I'm swooning and craving a museum trip now!
I hope you do make it to center court one day, it is an amazing experience. I luckily got to see Andy Roddick center court in Arthur Ashe Stadium, New York, US Open 2008.
What a wonderful idea it is to make an online exhibition such like this ! Absolutely loved it, will definitely share it with some tennis friends, thank you 🎾❤️
My heart <3 I played tennis all through childhood into Varsity tennis in high school. I ended up always gravitating towards performing. Tennis will always have a special place in my heart. What a beautiful tribute to this incredible sport.
I’ve visited the All England Tennis Club, it’s a quick tube ride from central London, and I highly recommend the visit! Centre Court is actually quite small, not imposing compared to the large stadiums at Flushing Meadows. The history of Wimbledon is well explained, the artifacts are amazing to see in-person, too. 🎾
Lauren!! This is sublime 🎾 Tennis is a later in life love for me—and love it is, indeed. I love the sounds, the colors. And once again you have me considering art I could potentially want. Like what?!?! What have you done to me. 😂
The sounds!! I totally agree. I was actually trying to source different court sound clips for this gallery (grass vs clay) but wasn’t able to find any good sources.
I played tennis growing up and love following it now. Going to Wimbledon is a dream! The US Open is so much fun. This Substack post is so good!! Ty for making it
