Fellow dance girl here šš»āāļø this just sent me down a rabbit hole of watching old SYTYCD videos (huge fan, saw the live tour twice!) which is the best way to spend a Friday morning. Anything choreographed by Travis, Mia, Mark or Sonya has my heart. Also loved the Misty Copeland Degas interpretations, Iād never seen those before! Lovely.
What a sweet memory and tradition. Thanks so much for sharing Kasey! That's so amazing that you play professionally now for the show, a full circle moment. Very cool.
Ahhh, not many people remember that movie, I'm so glad that you also think of it when tap dancing is mentioned - hehe. My husband won't dance either, thank goodness for solo living room dance breaks!

Ahhh, I love it! That is SO cool you got to see the live show! I remember being so obsessed with Travis back in the day. Ughhh, all of those choreographers actually. Thanks Alexa, love finding another little item we have in common š©°š„°
One of my absolute FAVORITE childhood memories is that every Christmas, my mom, grandma, and I would dress up, have dinner downtown, and then go see the local ballet perform the Nutcracker. Now I play clarinet professionally, and getting to play in the pit for the Nutcracker and see a whole new generation of little girls dressed up for the ballet makes my heart so happy. Love your essay and especially the Misty Copeland photos. š©°

Been to the Ballet many times, but this is by far my favourite performance. Glad I could share it with you.
Aww thanks Dad, love you.
I used to dance when I was younger and miss it so much! I do a mandatory daily dance party alone to feel more connected to that version of myself <3
pd: I would visit all your exhibitions!
Thank you so much Laura! I love your commitment to the daily solo dance party. I need to take a note from you and do that more often. xx
I want to live in this post! I am forever chasing the ballet girl aesthetic/lifestyle as a former competitive dancer. Beautiful curation, thank you!
Awww thanks so much Tracy! š©·

Ahhah, you're the best. Thank you Gabriella! Sounds like you gave the audience an exciting experience, I love that. So cool that you did tap and ballet, love learning all these little tidbits about you. Leotard shopping hehe, apparently these are back in style now so we can wear them without getting fussed at by any instructors. š©·
