Excellent film choices! I really enjoyed Suspiria even though it is unhinged and quite gross in some parts. I also really like Black Swan and have not watched that in ages. I dressed up as the Black Swan for Halloween when that was still a fairly new movie. Girl Interrupted is also great. I remember being so freaked out by Angelina Jolie's character when I first saw that movie. I have Portrait of a Lady on Fire in my queue so I will get to that! I have also never watched Death Becomes Her so I am adding that.
How did you like My Year of Rest and Relaxation? I really hated the main character and only finished because I was hoping she would somehow redeem herself. I finished but I did not like it because I found her so vile. I loved Beautyland, it was a great story about the entire human experience.
Have you watched Promising Young Woman? Slightly different vibe but still weird. I also tend to like weird and creepy or suspenseful tv shows and some of my favourites are Trapped and Katla, both Icelandic, and I just started watching Equinox, from Denmark.
Ahh thanks so much Sonya! Love the Icelandic and Denmark recommendations, I am always up to try something foreign and new - can't wait to check these out.
Hehehe, Death Becomes Her is pretty 80s, you might get a good kick out of it.
I actually really enjoyed My Year of Rest and Relaxation. You're right, she is a terrible character and impossible to relate to. But something about the whole bizarre scenario and her dedication to sleeping, I was really interested in it all. Such a kook! Beautyland was awesome and definitely something I would recommend more to people over the other. 💜
Oh, Amelie is such a good rec + I love Poor Things! Somehow I still haven't seem Everything Everywhere All at Once, so excited to tune-in. Saving this list for Autumn watches.
Love this collection! I’m about half and half in terms of if I’ve seen them. You’ve added some to my radar and remind me of a few that I’ve been meaning to get to.
Just rewatched Poor Things again this week, and I really love it. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but I love the absurdity, and the costumes!! Great list Lauren.
Oh, this is just what I needed for spooky season! My husband and I are on opposite ends of the movie spectrum - he loves horror movies and I love documentaries. Off kilter, dark movies are usually where we can find some common ground. A whole bunch of these are going on my watch list! Have you seen I Saw the TV Glow, the A24 movie that came out this year? It's a weird, stylish psychological horror movie about a 90's kid show. I think it would be right up your alley if you have not seen it yet!
You’re a documentary watcher, ok ok!! You’ll need to show me your ways. I haven’t seen that movie - I am totally adding it to the list. 📺 Fun!! Thank you Gabriella.

The dedication to sleeping is something I support. :)
Promising Young Woman is fantastic!!
Oooh yay, adding this to the watch list.
The Craft is everything! I always open my October with a revisit of that Movie (and Hocus Pocus)
Heheh, so good! Thanks Sara. I also love Hocus Pocus - I actually haven’t watched the remake yet, I’ll need to do that this year. 🍂
Poor Things is a great one! I’m focusing on vampire media for this spooky season, so I’ve added Humanist Vampire to my watchlist.
Ohhh fun! 🖤 Hope you enjoy. xx
Death Becomes Her!!! I found that one on accident last year and it instantly became a favorite 🙌🏼 Love this list 💌

Love this genre but even Poor Things was too much for me. I'd add Melancholia and Midsommar to this list!
Ohhh nice, thanks Kuleigh. I actually haven’t seen Midsommar yet, but I hear it’s really good and artsy. 🤍
great list!
Aww thanks EJ!
